Just wanted to give you the latest update on my condition. We met with the neurosurgeon last Friday, and the results of the last MRI still showed some swelling on the brain as well as blood (that needs to absorbed by the body). However, the swelling is continuing to decrease (slowly) and my movement, energy, etc. continues to improve. (The doctor actually said I look drastically improved from when he saw me in the hospital).

Sorry for the delay in updates, but the doctors are not being sensitive to our schedule or need for information. (It’s not like this is brain surgery…Oh wait…in this case…)

We continue today to be graciously overwhelmed by the amazing turn of events over the last 24 hours. The neurologist came in today at 2:00 P.M. He did an exam and is pleased with Byron's progress.

Thank you to all who have been praying for Byron. After two very intense days, there is news. I will just relate how things have unfolded this morning and you can draw your own conclusions. There was an additional vascular test yesterday afternoon as noted in yesterday’s update. Those results were read this morning, Byron was given an additional exam and a consultation took place around 10:00 a.m. The doctors found that Byron’s symptoms are abating and that his motor skills are returning to normal. Further, the latest scan shows no mass on or in the brain and the bleeding has stopped. As a result, Byron was discharged from CCU around noon and is resting in a private room at Huntington Memorial.

Around 4 p.m. today, the neurosurgeon met with Byron and family in CCU. Byron's strength in his left arm has gradually improved today, which is a positive sign that bleeding may be subsiding. The doctors want Byron to get good rest, get the swelling down, and continue to stabilize. When they feel he is ready, they will schedule surgery to remove the mass. Currently, there is no indication as to how soon this will be - however the general feeling is that they want to proceed as quickly as possible when they believe he is stable.

The outpouring of prayer and support has been an enormous boost for Byron and Brenda and their family during this difficult time. The many visitors who have been able to stop by to offer support, a loving hug or a brief hello have all been greatly appreciated. It is their perspective, and ours, that this current situation is a family experience and that we, the family of Montrose Church, will link arm and arm and take this journey together. For this reason, we request that from here forward you use this blog to get updates on Byron's progress.
